Summer is my favorite time of year. I love the time off work, the time for travel and family, and the heat. I also love all the things that summer means at home in Northern California. As part of the theme of Summer on this week’s FriFotos series on Twitter, here is a collection of photos that show why I love summer in Northern California.

Dry fields with huge oak trees are a typical sight in California’s summer.

A great combination at the Meritage Resort in Napa: a pool and vineyards

Our garden grows like crazy in the hot California summer.

Summer means amazing fruit in California!

We pick these in our yard all summer.

Summer on the coast can be very different from inland. A foggy evening near Monterey is typical in July.

Outdoor restaurants are very popular. The patio of Tower Cafe is our favorite in Sacramento.

Summer means flowers! This hibiscus grows in a fountain in our yard and blooms for just 1 day.
What do you love about summer where you live?
All the fruit is one of my favorite things about living in Northern California! My friends are always bringing me their leftovers from their trees and gardens. Lucky me

I agree, the fruit is something I love, too. We grow some in our yard and share with my mom and a few other people.
Wonderful photo tour of California in the summer! Brilliant photos especially the foggy evening in Monterey and the Meritage Resort. Looks like it could be Italy.

Thanks, Jeff. Yes, California and Italy have a lot in common, actually, and that’s part of why I love CA so much
