The fruit trees in Brazil impressed me the first time I visited back in 2000 and still do all these visits later. Banana, coffee, mango, jackfruit, citrus, and papaya trees are very common. The huge fruit hanging from jackfruit, banana, and papaya trees almost seem unreal. This papaya tree is one of two in my sister-in-law’s yard.
This week’s Photos of the Day included one from Prague and the rest from Brazil, where I am spending the next 4 weeks. See all this week’s photos here. You can also subscribe to the Photo of the Day feed there by clicking “RSS feed for this section” in the upper right.

Time for green papaya salad. Yum. If you need a recipe, I can send one. Green papaya and carrots plus more good stuff.
Good idea. I will have to check and see if the Asian ingredients are even sold here.
How fun! It’s been a long time since I saw a mango tree or visited anywhere that grew them. I’ll bet you have all kinds of mangoes there that are way more delicious than what you can usually get in the US. I’ve never seen a papaya tree. I wondered what papayas look like when they are growing, now I know!

They are beautiful trees, I think.
