Like many people during lockdown, I made a lot of changes in my home, one of which was getting an entirely new bed set. I decided to get this beautiful bed frame and nightstands and splurged on a nice mattress, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, as you can see in this Tuft & Needle mint mattress review.

While researching mattresses, there were two factors that I didn’t want to compromise. First, I wanted a mattress that does not emit potentially harmful chemicals. In other words, I was willing to pay a little more for one of the best green mattresses. To me, the peace of mind sleeping on a safer mattress was worth every penny! Yet I also found that the Tuft & Needle mint mattress was not expensive.

Second, I wanted a mattress that would be extra comfy without making me feel hot during the night. Fortunately, the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress checks all those boxes and more!

What is Tuft & Needle’s Adaptive Foam?

Tuft & Needle has developed their T&N Adaptive® foam as a smart alternative to both memory foam (which tends to run hot) and latex. They claim that their foam provides supportive body contouring, which they call “responsive support.” In my opinion, this makes the Tuft & Needle mattress one of the best green mattresses.

The foam should be comfortable for all sleep styles, especially for side sleepers, and heat and air can flow through the foam more easily so that you can sleep cooler.

After two years of using their mattress, I can vouch for all of these points. I also feel that the mattress provides plenty of support and contouring so that I always feel comfortable while sleeping in any position. I love the fact that the mattress never makes me feel hot.

Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress review

Tuft & Needle makes three mattresses: the Original, the Mint, and the Hybrid. For me, the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress was the perfect choice since it provides more features than the Original but is more affordable than the Hybrid.

The Hybrid has more support because it includes springs, which I did not feel was necessary for me. The Hybrid may last longer, however.

Here are the pros of the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress:

It’s breathable with “open-cell foam infused with ceramic and cooling gel plus heat-conducting graphite”

The cover is made with a cozy knit fabric that’s removable and machine-washable.

It has a 2” layer of Mint foam for pressure relief and reduced motion transfer (I can attest that this works! I don’t feel any movement from the other person in the bed.)

It’s best for back and side sleepers

Is Tuft & Needle mattress good for side sleepers?

Yes! I am a side sleeper. Combined with my Coop pillow, I feel that I have the perfect set up for side sleeping.

YES!! I love this mattress so much! It was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

After two years, I haven’t noticed any wear, and I still look forward to getting in bed and enjoying the way it feels. Even my kids comment on how I have the most comfortable bed ever! I really could not be happier with my Tuft and Needle mattress.

Tuft & Needle foam pillow review

I recently got a Tuft & Needle foam pillow. Like their other products, it includes foam that doesn’t emit nasty chemicals, has no strange smell, and is very comfortable and supportive.

At 5″, it’s a little taller than I had expected, but when I use it, it adjusts perfectly to provide just the right amount of support while sleeping on my side. However, it feels slightly too tall for me when I move to my back. For taller people or people with larger frames, this should not be an issue.

Tuft & Needle Return Experience

I felt reassured about trying the pillow because, like their mattresses, their pillows have a 100-day trial. After two months of sleeping on it, I realized that the height was just not quite right for me.

I reached out to their customer service by email. I heard back within a couple of days and was told that they cannot accept the return in the mail since the product was opened and used. Therefore, I should locate a local charity to which I can donate it.

Once I send Tuft & Needle a picture of the donation receipt, they will reimburse me.

The return process is easy, and I like that they encourage customers to rehome unwanted items. It’s also nice that I don’t have to ship the pillow back, but it is my responsibility to find a charity that will take the pillow.

However, in the meantime, I have found what I think is the perfect pillow, the Coop Original. It is great for me because I have a small frame and am a side sleeper. The Tuft & Needle pillow was just too tall for me.
