Where to Stay in Half Moon Bay: Beach House Hotel

One of our favorite places to visit in Northern California is the coastal town of Half Moon Bay, located just south of San Francisco. I swear, it’s just the perfect combo outdoor activities, big sandy beaches, and rural California beauty (think goat farms and fruit stands). And for us, staying at the Beach House Hotel Half Moon Bay was the icing on the cake. I’d recommend visiting Half Moon Bay and staying in this hotel for any family looking for an active yet relaxing stay on the coast.

Where to stay Half Moon Bay

Offering 54 spacious, family-friendly rooms, Beach House Hotel Half Moon Bay is a great choice for families or couples visiting the Half Moon Bay area. The property is located steps from the water, allowing for ocean views from most rooms and access to the coastal trail just behind the hotel.

This trail offers plenty to do within easy walking distance – in one direction, there’s the beach, where surfers take to the waves just after sunrise. In the other direction you’ll find the famous Sam’s Chowder House and a waterfront shopping center with restaurants and a brewery. Just a short walk beyond is the historic Pillar Point Harbor (a nice place for a stroll and a meal).

Families will especially appreciate the design of the spacious rooms. The sleeping area, with a king-size bed, desk and TV, is slightly separated from the living area by a step, which leads to a mini kitchen, queen-size sleeper sofa, fireplace and balcony/patio. The mini kitchen includes a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop and dishes for preparing and serving simple meals. The hotel provides a complimentary continental breakfast of fresh fruit and delicious pastries.

I love Half Moon Bay and discovered it early when I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to go to school. For the longest time, it was my weekend go-to to get away and it is a very special place!

Such a beautiful and tranquil part of Northern California, yet so close to San Francisco! I used to visit when I lived in SF. I need to go back now!
